What to Watch For

• 1 How do teachers get started with a whole-group science challenge? Print a 30-Day Science Challenge checklist for each student, select one mission to model, and distribute its paired Newsela article and response sheet.
• 2 How can students record evidence during the investigation? Model how to read and annotate the article, then have students complete the experiment and record observations in an evidence-conclusion tracker or CER graphic organizer.
• 3 How can the class discuss findings or adapt the activity? Invite students to share and synthesize findings before adding them to science notebooks, or adapt the challenge for centers, choice menus, or gallery logs.
