What to Watch For

• 1 How do you set up Country Spotlight stations? Choose a country in Newsela Social Studies, print its guide and paired articles, then set up four stations around language, history, government and the economy, and arts and social groups.
• 2 How do students explore each station and collect evidence? Have groups rotate every 10–15 minutes, read and annotate each article, and record evidence using a graphic organizer such as “I See, I Think, I Wonder,” also available in Spanish.
• 3 How can teachers extend or adapt the station activity? Extend the inquiry with a different country at each station, or use Country Spotlights for a whole-group lesson, choice menu, or gallery walk.
